Zurich will become the epicenter of cycling: from 21 to 29 September 2024, the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich will cast a spell over the entire city and region. An outstanding premiere of the 9-day event: for the first time, the road races for para-cyclists will be an integral part of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships. From attractive and challenging routes throughout the canton to the thrilling finale at Sechseläutenplatz in the heart of the city, 1300 riders from over 75 countries will be competing for the coveted rainbow jersey. In various disciplines such as individual time trials, team competitions and the elite road races, 66 winners will be chosen, bringing cycling to the people and allowing them to experience it up close during the final sprint to Sechseläutenplatz Ride along, suffer along, cheer along – we are all there: Together We Ride!
Hosted areas by Axpo & PluSport for people with disabilities
Following the motto ‘Together We Ride’, the event will be a bike festival for everyone! The focus is on accessibility.
So-called ‘hosted areas’ will be set up for people with disabilities (PWD). Thanks to a modular system with seating blocks, these areas can be organised according to individual needs. This allows PWD and their carers to follow the thrilling finishes with the best possible view. In addition, there is always someone available in the hosted areas to provide support if required. The hosted areas are located in the fan zones on Sechseläutenplatz and Bürkliplatz. A ticket must be purchased for access to Sechseläutenplatz. Are you dependent on an accompanying person? Then please contact [email protected] in good time by email. We will provide a ticket for your companion free of charge. There are various food stands and wheelchair-accessible toilets in the immediate vicinity of the hosted areas. The entire site of the UCI Road and Para-cycling World Championships is barrier-free so that everyone can move around freely.
